The Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships (NEVR) is proud to celebrate the international work of Dr. Jen Marchbank, NEVR Conference Co-Chair and Professor and Chair of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University.
Recently, Dr. Marchbank travelled to Germany as part of an international knowledge exchange focused on preventing violence and improving outcomes for older adults. During her visit to Kiel University of Applied Sciences, she presented research exploring the unique experiences of queer older adults and elder abuse, contributing Canadian perspectives to discussions with researchers and practitioners from both Canada and Germany.
The visit also included meetings with community organizations and policymakers in Schleswig-Holstein, where Dr. Marchbank highlighted her advocacy and collaborative work through the Network to Eliminate Violence in Relationships (NEVR). These conversations emphasized the importance of cross-sector partnerships and international collaboration in addressing violence, supporting vulnerable populations, and sharing evidence-informed practices.
International collaborations like these strengthen NEVR’s mission to bring together researchers, practitioners, educators, policymakers, and community leaders to advance violence prevention through research, education, and knowledge mobilization.
